This tour is a custom tour and are not necessarily in the order below. Each guide has their own itinerary and have a specific place and time to be throughout the tour.  The 3 hour tour makes a stop at the famous John Ford’s Point where many of John Wayne’s western cinematic movies were film, and also the Transformers: Age of Extinction featuring Mark Wahlberg. Next, your guide will drive to The Backcountry of the park and escort you to the arches.  At “Sun’s Eye Arch” you will be standing at a specific degree to look up into the rock arch and see why it is named Sun’s Eye. At the same location you will also see Petroglyphs and hear your guide’s stories. You will also travel to the “Big Hogan.” The Big Hogan is a great place to take family pictures and lie against the rocks and feel its warmth. Your guide will provide stories and suggest great photo shots. In the Backcountry is the “Ear of the Wind.” This is the largest arch in the park, and your guide will escort you to a photogenic spot where you can take photographs. You will be guided to the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Cheii Monuments where you will be able to take photographs and hear the cultural stories behind each monument. Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, then get ready for a scenic drive to Monument Valley in a comfortable all-terrain vehicle— allowing for exclusive access to parts of the park that are inaccessible to smaller cars. The area, located on a Navajo Reservation and considered a sacred healing region by Native American tribes, is tough to navigate on your own. But your guide will walk you through the history of the Navajo tribal park and the background of each stunning natural formation. With your choice of a sunrise or sunset tour, you’re bound for incredible, camera-ready views during the sun-kissed time of day known by photographers as the “Golden Hour.” The itineraries are fully customizable, so you’ll have your pick of some incredible spots, including iconic rock formations like John Ford’s Point, which served as film backdrop in many John Wayne Westerns. One of the most photographed formations is the Yei Bi Chei monuments, which resemble a line of tribal dancers. You’ll also get an opportunity to take pictures of the Big Hogan, a sandstone cave chamber, and Ear of the Wind, a mesmerizing, crimson-hued arch. At the North Window where you will have a chance to take pictures of the Mittens and Butte at different angles. Your tour guide will then slowly and safely transport you back to your departure point.

But the sun didn’t come out until we got back to the hotel. Just in time to take pictures of the beautiful Monument Valley!

We took the sunrise tour on April 2019. It was fantastic! The site is absolutely jaw-dropping. Our guide Steven was super friendly and took us to incredible locations, advising us on the camera settings to use. I highly recommend it, worth every penny!

What can I say, it doesn't get any better! From the mysticism and beauty of the back country locations, the stories and history of the Navajo People and our guide's own life, to the friendliness, warmth and helpfulness of Steven our guide, that far exceeded my expectations, I could not have asked for more. We (my wife and myself) were greeted with a warm welcoming smile at 5:45 in the morning. After a brief chat we headed out to the valley, just the three of us. Our chat continued throughout the entire adventure as Steven told us stories of the history of the park and the people that lived there and little tidbits of his life. This gave us a sense of friendliness and warmth. We soon came to the off-road path to the Totem Pole Yei Bi Chei Point through the loose sand, deep bumps and washes. The sunrise was beautiful with a little more than a touch of clouds. Not the best conditions, but with the help of Steven the pictures turned out great. He guided me on some settings and picked out various points of view for different shots. During this my battery died and to make things worse my second battery died after 5 shots. I was bummed but Steven once again stepped up and offered his Nikon battery for me to use. Thank you Steven Thank you!! After sunrise we headed to 2 hidden arches. At the first one (I believe it was called the Big Hogan) Steven took a picture with my wife's cell phone that showed a bird's head with the arch as the bird's eye. He then played a song on his flute. The peace and quiet along with the view and the flute made for a warm peaceful memory I will treasure. Next it was a second arch with a little more photography guidance. Finally off to Fords Point where he took a photo of the two us of the point. As I said it does get any better. Thanks for the memories, photos and the extra help with the battery Steven.
