Got to experience 2 tours in September. Once with my friends as part of my 50th birthday trip to Charleston and again with my husband a couple weeks later. These tours are a great way to start your trip to get a feel for the area. It really helped us to know what we wanted to see and do in more depth during the rest of our trip. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of our guide from my first trip but he was super knowledgeable about Charleston history. He was driving Toogadoo who was just so cute! I was very skeptical about horse drawn carriage rides, not sure of the treatment of the animals. Palmetto Carriage Works put my mind at ease. Honestly the city of Charleston does an amazing job of protecting the horses at all of these carriage companies. I had a fabulous time learning about Charleston. My second trip was just as much fun. Our guide on that tour was Scott and his love for the horse Elwood who he was driving was so sweet. You could see the bond the two shared. Scott was just as wonderful as our first guide and this time we got to go to a different zone of the city so it was a totally different experience. I noticed some people weren’t happy about being crammed in a seat together but I liked the option to buy the additional seats for a reduced price if you desired more space.
