I agree with this reviewer that the people were great, but the tour was just so-so for the price ($89 pp). The vehicle is cool, but the ride consists of 45 minutes out and 45 minutes back of riding along a bumpy road (which we expected). But there was no chance to really appreciate the beauty or see if there were any animals as the vehicle never stopped. I think the tour may be aimed at those interested in the "Into the Wild" story (that isn't why we went). The guide focused on the fact that the trail is the same one that Chris McCandless started out on, but they tell you up front that you will not get anywhere near the famous bus so I'm not sure how interesting it is in that respect, either.

The people who run this excursion are great- really personable, interesting, and fun to talk with. However, its telling that my favorite part of the excursion was the time when we returned to the trailhead and chatted around a fire pit and walked out on the tundra. My fiance was really excited to see the stampede trail, and the vehicle that we took was kind of cool; however, the trees and brush came right up to the sides of hte vehicle, so you couldnt see much, and the ride didnt get very far along the trail. You never see any river or bus.

Hello Blake, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! It's great to hear you had an awesome time on the last part of your tour at our Tundra Pavilion. This time of year we even get to pick blueberries out on the tundra hike. For the safety of our guests and guides, we refrain from doing river crossings. We make every attempt to share that we will not make it to the bus, but I do apologize if a different impression was given. Safety is our upmost priority and we make sure to avoid having a similar outcome to the “Into the Wild” story. The time out on the tundra is a key part of our tour and it is wonderful you found our team personable and fun. We hope you had a wonderful trip to Alaska and thanks again for joining us on an adventure through the Alaskan bush!

Really enjoyed this experience through this beautiful bit of country. Loved the safari feel. We didn’t manage to see any major wildlife while on the trail but you have to appreciate that this is beyond the control of the operator - and that being said, a moose did pop out to say hello on the road back to the village. Appreciated the stampede, “Into the Wild” and other stories from Travis and Jeremy who were both really knowledgable and friendly. Blueberry picking ... yum! Wish I had a tub of icecream to go with them.
