The docent passionate and extremely knowledgeable about his subject. The tour guides are required to take classes, pass tests and be certified. They are volunteers. This is a man who loves his adopted city and wants to share that with those taking the tours. The tours are either up-river tours of the French Quarter or down-river tours of the French Quarter so you will not get a tour of both areas in one. The one we took was an up-river tour and we were informed on the history of the city's development, architectural details and personal stories. The tour was supposed to last 2 hours and lasted 2 1/2 hours.
My only complaint is that the tour included complementary tickets to the 1850 house but we took the tour on a Monday and it is closed on Monday. Had that been clear I might have arranged my schedule differently. The tickets could be used another day but I had only one day left and we were fully booked the next day so I was unable to use them.

Comprehensive and fun walking tour. Learn about the history of New Orleans and Louisiana and you'll enjoy NOLA more after the tour.

We took the 2hour French Wuarter Walking Tour. Ben Crowe was our docent. He knew Everything! I am usually full of questions but Ben covered just about everything so I didn’t have to ask anything. One of my favorite things was our walk to the levee on the Mississippi and his discussion of the sugar and cotton trade. I also liked all of his knowledge of architecture and New Orleans history. I would highly recommend this tour through the French Quarter. It will bring history to life and link together the different peoples that have settled here.
