Took the 2 hr walking tour of the French Quarter from Roger, a retired HS teacher yesterday in New Orleans. It was excellent, great in-depth history into New Orleans in general as well as the architecture and people that make up the French Quarter, highly recommend.

I'd timed it well, going on the walking tour the day AFTER Fat Tuesday. It was a small group, and Selby did an awesome job filling us in on the history of New Orleans, highlighting the French vs. Spanish vs. English origins.

We had a fantastic tour of the French Quarter with Roger who was enthusiastic, well-prepared, and informative. As a local, he wanted us to love the Quarter, and we did. He brought to life the people--Indians, French, Spanish, Africans, English, and the mixtures in between-- who contributed to the art, architecture, music, economy, and literature of New Orleans. He told us of the important turning points in the city's history. This was every bit a French Quarter tour but we learned about the city as a whole. Outstanding tour!
