We booked a small catamaran as pictured, and was not told until the night before (when I called them) that we would be on a much larger boat. This was our exact intent not to have booked that. Although due to winds we could not go to Molokini or Turtle Town, we did have many whale and turtle sightings and the snorkeling was pretty good. Overall, it just wasn't as described either in boat or destination but minus that we made the most with what it turned out to be. We don't recommend the photo package.

We went on this tour with this boat 3 years ago and enjoyed it so booked it again. It’s a smaller group of ppl and leaves earlier so you get to avoid the crowds for a while. However, this time we booked and got transferred to the Calypso boat on arrival. This is a much bigger boat, more people to the point that it frightens the fish and the hoards pounce on the turtles. They also do a hard sell on photos and snuba. We found out that the boat we’d booked has been off the water for 3 months and is still expected to stay off for another 2 months. We’d have preferred honesty so that we could have booked an alternative tour. The owners blamed viator for not letting them take the advert down, which I find hard to believe...if the boat sank you’d be able to remove the ad, this is no different. Disappointed. Didn’t get to molokini this time due to the weather conditions which is understandable. Nor did we go to turtle town, as I assume it would have been out of the way. Athough the captain of the boat pretended we were at turtle town (I guess most people on the boat won’t have known any better). First snorkel site wasn’t very good. The second just south of Lahaina was excellent. only saving grace was the whales coming out to play. Shame really as we were repeat customers...all you had to do was be honest...but dollars are more important that customer satisfaction.

First things first is parking. There are many parking spots right around the harbor, its pay as you park, so find a spot and pay at the kiosk..or do what we did when we asked the one of the crewmembers, he stated, don't worry about it, they never check, park near the back. So that's what we did, we parked near the back by the building and nothing happened. Anyways, we were upgraded from our smaller boat to the 3 level Calypso. I'm glad we were though, the waves were very choppy that morning and being on a bigger boat helped with the motion sickness. Breakfast was an array of fresh fruit, juices, bread muffins and eggs which was nice. The captain and crew were funny and very knowledgeable. The crater was beautiful, there were only 4 other boats there when we arrived so it was nice and calm, 180 feet clarity. We saw tons of fishes. The next stop was turtle town but because of the muddy waters we went whale watching which was super awesome because we saw a nice pod of whales literally 20-30 yards away from us. So we had a good 15-20 min show of whales jumping and breaching the waters. Super awesome. Lunch was chicken or pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw which made for a nice hot lunch. The of course the open bar, $2 for drinks and beer, which made it for the cheapest happy hour around. The ride back was super smoothe and relaxing, would highly recommend.
