I would say the over all the experience was just mediocre. Before we even pulled out of the dock, the captain started doing what he called “setting expectations”. He was basically letting the crowd down easy regarding weather(there were high winds) and indicating the chance of us making it to either destination they billed for was not likely. I completely understand that no one can control the weather, however he went on and on about it. Repeatedly. So while we were slightly annoyed we weren’t going to make it to Molokini/Turtle Town, the fact that he went over that fact repeatedly, made it worse. The capstones to the trip were three things: 1.The alternate snorkeling destinations we were taken to could be reached from the side of the road. No boat required. 2. As we were traveling back to the marina the captain mentioned he had only had 5 successful trips to Molokini the last month. (Then present the trip otherwise) 3. Despite not making it to either destination, they charged us for drinks. Generally speaking, the crew lacked professionalism. I would not recommend this outfitter.

Sorry you did not make it to Molokini. The crew are usually commended for being so nice and funny. The drinks are only $3. Usually people have a great time despite the weather.

The weather was poor. Not Malolo's fault. We didn't get out to Molokini or turtle town. That's fine, it happens. Snorkeling : Snorkeling : We went snorkeling at probably half a dozen locations while we were in Maui. They took us to coral gardens and some no name location a few hundred yards away. Coral gardens was decent. Not good enough that we would want to go back, but the reef was alive and there were a reasonable number of fish. Next location was only a couple coves down. Captain told us how bad Molokini is with dead coral and everything and said something about rushing to get this spot before another ship did. Worst snorkeling the whole trip and we were stuck there. After we got off the boat we did a little more snorkeling later that day by where we were staying in kihei and saw a couple turtles. During the tour was the longest we snorkeling without seeing a turtle. Food: Breakfast looked like Costco muffins, a couple fruit trays and coffee. Lunch was a sandwich buffet and coleslaw they also had a soda gun thing. They had plenty of sandwich meat and decent tomatoes and lettuce. They asked us to wait to get seconds but I think there was some available. Crew : Young guys. Seemed to want to do a good job. One related interesting tidbits about the island. Overall : Can't speak to Molokini except that the Captain said it wasn't great. For us we would have rather gotten half our money back the day of and just not gone. We could have spent our time better not stuck on the ship. This is done through boss frogs they advertise $70/per person on the island and it's the cheapest way to do Molokini we found. So maybe if the weather is going to be good give it a try. If the weather is iffy I'd get a refund.

The snorkeling was probably the best ever done at molokini we never made it to turtle town ☹️. The guides were very nice. The rest of the boat ride was average. Fruit at breakfast was blah, cold cuts at lunch on sandwich bread was ok. Average cookie fir dessert. It would of been nice to have a free cocktail but the drinks were reasonably priced. Great service. Would of been nice to stop somewhere else at least for a swim break.

Glad you were able to make it to Molokini. Sometime the weather doesn't cooperate and you cannot get to another swim spot because the best spot is Molokini. Hope that clears things up. Thanks for the compliments of the crew.
