Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

If you are looking for a great tour to learn all about the city of Charleston, then this is it! Palmer was our tour guide and she did a FABULOUS job, SO informative and energetic! We loved how we got not only a history on the city of Charleston but on architecture as well as so much knowledge on a lot of the historic homes in the area as well! I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, a must do to learn all there is about this beautiful city!

Palmer was a fantastic tour guide. I would highly recommend this walking tour to anyone going to visit Charleston. Palmer was incredibly knowledgeable. She did an excellent job of walking us through the history of Charleston and pointing out details I would have never noticed on my own. She was fun and engaging and able to answer any questions that our group came up with. We are so glad we chose this tour!

Bill was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Charleston. We appreciated his willingness to embrace the less than pleasant sides of history of the city and provide us with a complete narrative of what made Charleston the bustling economic center it was in its heyday. Bill is a fast talker and fast walker but gives more information in an intelligent, witty, occasionally facetious and funny way that was easy to digest, even if the content was not so much. He was receptive to our questions and was extremely interactive with the group, prompting us with questions to help us lead the discussion. At the end he was more than willing to continue to talk one on one and provide us with suggestions for more events and sites to see, the best places to eat and drink, and offered to answer our call later if anything came up by the end of the day. Lastly, what stood out to us is that he truly was in this work for two reasons: he really loves what he does and he appreciates his customers, and that makes so much of a difference. This tour is one of the Highlights of Charleston.
