Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

This was a highly enjoyable tour of just under 2 hours. The group I was with was small, with only 4 other people aside from myself. The guide was friendly, and I liked that he clearly set expectations for how he would approach the tour. He brought a lot of enthusiasm to the tour, and offered a lot of insight and wasn't afraid to say things as they are. I would certainly recommend this tour to others who want to get some good insights into the history of Charleston the good, the bad and the ugly. I would also recommend to people to wear appropriate sun protection, as well as bring some water. It is an outside tour, and the sun can be very hot, efforts were made to try and find shady spots to stand when talking about different things we were looking at.

Palmer was a fantastic tour guide! We origionally had our own self guided tour in mind and walked through the city the previous day on our own with an app. This left us with a ton of unanswered questions, so we decided on a guided walking tour and we are so happy that we did! Palmer answered all of our questions and gave us an enormous amount of history and insight into the area. We highly recommend this tour!

William Harris, the owner of this touring agency, is extremely knowledgeable and personable. He has degrees in religion and history, but that is just the beginning. He is dedicated to telling it like it was, to being historically accurate, and to crystalizing the important information so that it can be digested. He has a very winsome personality and a good sense of humor. I am a South Carolina born woman who has been on many tours in Europe and here in SC. This tour is at the top of my list of favorites. It is by far the best downtown Charleston tour. If you go, you will learn so much and have a great time. The tour is two hours, and I recommend the morning in the summertime.
