We had visited many of the famous old mansions along the Hudson and thought it might be nice to see them from the river, too. Wrong! First, you really don't get close enough to see much of the old homes and most are also at least partially blocked by tall trees (see photos). I should mention that we did get a close-up look at an historic lighthouse (photo). Second, it was very hard to hear much of the narrator's explanations because of the engine's noise and all the chatter by the other passengers. It was a nice relaxing couple of hours on the river, but not much more. I can't recommend it.

Two delightful hours cruising down The Hudson River w good historic narration. Nice boat w two levels of seating, some open and others under a canopy. Snacks and a full bar. Suggest you book in advance on busy days. Boat starts loading 30 min before departure

The Rip Van Winkle was a perfect setting for our family reunion! From the very young to the older crowd, we all had a great time! Nice, informative cruise down the Hudson.
