What a great tour! Interesting shuttle ride to the plantation followed by a great little walk on property with our bus driver. We even saw alligators during our walk! We were then turned over to another tour operator for a ride around the plantation property on covered wagons pulled behind trailers. Their was also very informative. Then we toured the plantation home with a very knowledgeable tour guide who has worked at the plantation for about ten years. Many of the antique furniture, China, and artwork pieces were explained in great detail. All in all, very enjoyable.

I enjoyed all of it, but the most memorable part was seeing the nearly 300 year old studies, and armoires. I truly admired the craftsmanship. I also very much enjoyed learning about indigenous animals, and foliage.

About 15 minutes driving from the historic district of Charleston. The setting is quite beautiful. Big property with extensive grounds, which juxtaposes the river and various swamps. We visited in November which was fine, but I imagine that it must be very hot and mosquito infested in the summers. The guided tour of the house was well done and worthwhile. We had a good guide, who really made it come to life. We then self guided ourselves through the gardens, which are quite extensive. A bit expensive when including the tour of the house itself, but worth a visit nonetheless if you want to get a feel and sense for an old southern plantation. Definitely has atmosphere.
