Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

We had an amazing experience swimming with the Manta Rays! Our captain Frank and Aaron were very knowledgeable on the rays and were able to give us an up close view of them while being very respectful of their environment! They were also conscientious of those of us not so great swimmers! The only reason we gave them 4 stars was the parking instructions and finding the group especially in the dark. Need better signage! Arrive early if you take the later tours! Overall it was a great experience!

I can't even begin to describe how blown away I still am. Captain Frank and Aaron were super nice and taught us so much about the manta rays before the boat took off. We were so lucky and saw five different manta rays! It was so beautiful and almost felt unreal. Can't recommend this tour highly enough!

I'll start with the positives; We saw loads of dolphins which was a pretty special experience. The wetsuits were warm and comfortable. Now onto the negatives; We didn't see any rays (not the companies fault and they have offered an unlimited return ticket). I am not a confident snorkeler, I get on with it and have done it quite a few times but I had to spend the week psyching myself up for this trip. I can't use regular snorkels so I have my own full face mask. I got myself to a point where I was ready and excited. Then the host says "those of you with full face snorkels, many, many, many people have died using these. The stopper gets stuck and people hyperventilate and die. I have had to rip snorkels off peoples faces to save their lives". Well from that moment on panic set in. I wouldn't put my snorkel on and just floated looking through the surface of the water. It wasn't comfortable and it wasn't fun. I have since learnt that this only happens with older models and the newer ones are equipped with a hole to stop that from happening. I get that it's a safety thing but perhaps don't be so negative and frightening about it, it completely ruined it for me.
