Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

This tour goes on a small boat that can fit only 10-12 people, it brings you to the place well in advance to the sunset so that you can do some snorkeling and familiarize with the place. When the sun is almost set, they turn on the light on a floating board and you simply grab the board and watch one of the most amazing show in the World, the dance of the Manta Rays. Being the group small, you can better understand the crew's indications and explanations.

Snorkeling with the manta Ray's was the highlight of our trip. They are so beautiful and graceful. Captain Ali'iloa was very informative and entertaining! Eugene made sure we were in the right position to see the Ray's and took some awesome pictures. I highly recommend Hawaii Oceanic!

My family and I - hubs and our 3 boys ages 13, 10 and 8 , really enjoyed the night tour. Everything was on time and as promised. Perhaps we got lucky, but there were so many manta rays that night! We were able to watch them the whole time we were in the water (about 20-25mins). One word of advice, while it was really warm during the day and the water was warm, it does get chilly to be in the water for that long at night. I wore a wet suit that was provided and was fine. However, the rest of my family opted not to and were pretty cold towards the end. Wear the wet suit!
