The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

I called in advanced to see if it was ok that my non athletic elderly mother would be ok on a tandem kayak and they said it was fine because there would be guides to help us and could tie us to their kayak. We went yesterday and the entire group, tour guides included, left us in the middle of the ocean. We were near the bouys that said “no kayak” and with the strong winds and only one capable person paddling, it was terrifying. Especially because my mother is not a strong swimmer. We eventually turned around and did not make it near the destination. I would not be as upset if I did not call in advanced to make sure we would be ok and not stranded in the middle of the ocean alone.

Hey PU, We are really sorry you felt stranded out there. We operate under the San Diego Lifeguard discretion, and they gave us the green light to operate. These tours are designed for ages 5 and up, and no swimming experience is necessary. Also, our guides are always out there with our tours for the entire time. However, when customers decide to turn around under their own free will and leave the group, it does become difficult to be in two places at once. Public service announcement: You guys screwed me with your Groupon deal!! BUYER BEWARE there is a secret BAIT and SWITCH link for Groupon purchasers where it only shows more limited, less favorable days/times but you don’t realize until AFTER you make the purchase. I emailed and called to help resolve but to no avail. Go elsewhere where they are more transparent and have integrity in their business practices, as this is a good reflection of how they operate.

Fun experience with a great knowledgeable and friendly staff. Kayaks and equipment were in good condition and ample amount of staff to help with launch and return from kayak excursion. You do get to go into one cave which was cool. You do get pretty wet so either being a change of clothes or rent a wetsuit.
