This is my 3rd food tour w/ Viator. The first 2 were guided by locals. This one wasn’t and it does feel different. This was more like going from point A to point B and given a brief description of the food. Two previous ones in Miami and St Louis felt more like an intro to the people, the history and the culinary culture of the locality . Don’t get me wrong, our guide was very personable but she knew little about the area and it’s restaurants. Also, I didn’t live being taken to a chain restaurant, even though the food was good.

Some good food on the tour, and since it's a food tour, that's probably the most important point. However, there were a number of negatives: - The guide was not particularly engaging or fun. Explanations, when I could hear them, sounded like a chore. The guide needs to understand where to position herself so all can hear, especially when there are ten or more guests and you are in a loud restaurant. - There was a lot of Hurry up and Wait. Of the two restaurants we had table service at, we had to rush there only to wait 5-10 minutes to get in then 15-30 minutes for the (pre-selected) food to arrive. Waiting 30 minutes for food on a 2.5 hour tour is just dumb, but then the tour did end up running quite a bit long. - The restaurant visitation order was a bit odd, with sweets coming at stop 2 (and also stop 1 if you got a sweet biscuit item there). - Stories about the food or town were a bit thin on the ground. Overall, the tour didn't feel like it was executed with heart, and there was a whole lot of disorganization. But yeah, there was some good food. I wasn't honestly going to write a review, but I've been hounded about five times by the supplier to do so, with text like the following: "If you enjoyed the tour, we would love a rave review! If you DIDN’T love the tour, please contact us immediately so we can remedy the situation." I dunno, personally I think a review is a review. Asking people to only write a review of they loved the tour seems odd. I mean, the tour was ok. And it's ok for me to say that.

LoveTravel814850, We want to first thank you for the feedback of the tour. You did bring forward some legitimate concerns that we will be addressing with your guide. As far as the wait, like in many parts of our country, staffing has become a serious issues, especially in hospitality. This has affected the service in many places, so we have been asking everyone to simply be patient. We have worked out agreements to when we can come into many of the restaurants in times that are best for them. For that reason, sometimes the sweet spot is not last. We do send a message after the tour asking for guests to leave a review. Verbatim it reads: "Thank you for choosing Bulldog Tours, Inc.. Could you take 30 seconds to leave us a review? If there is something we could have done better, please text us directly and we will get right back to you!" We believe in quality as well as complete customer satisfaction. If a tour did not meet expectations, we want to address it and make it right. In addition, we want to address any issues with the guide. For those reasons, we ask for the direct response. We actually would love to hear more about your experience including who was your guide. Please feel free to reach out to our Tour Guide Manager, Andrew Kuhn, at [email protected] to discuss further. Thanks again!
