Overview

Walk, talk and taste your way through historic Charleston South Carolina. This small-group 2.5-hour tour will immerse you in the history and culture of the Lowcountry and allow you to experience a remarkable culinary scene in downtown Charleston. Stops along the way will include many of the city’s leading restaurants through out the city. Typical tastings include: stone ground grits, Southern pralines, sweet tea, collard greens, Lowcountry barbeque, and fried green tomatoes.

Built in the early 1800's, this four block historical landmark was originally the city's grocery store. Today, the City Market is home to a variety of local vendors that sell their art, crafts, and local wares.

Darien was a great tour guide! Lots of history and of course great food. It was a wonderful introduction to Charleston. Highly recommend!

Overall our guide was a nice person. The tour stops were really random though with no context as to why we were going there. We went to a hand pie place and a taco place. There was no history or facts given when walking between locations. And we learned about Carolina gold rice while eating random tacos. I don’t know why there wouldn’t be more embrace for local cuisine that tourists want to learn more about. The BBQ place was really good and for once a logical history cuisine story made sense and felt right. I wouldn’t recommend this tour unless you’re going to do better with locations. Thank you!

It was a very diverse tour with several different styles of food. Our tour guide Beth was very animated as she gave us the history of the local food culture. You get A LOT of food, no one left hungry!
