Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

Our 4 15yr old girls (2 sets of twins...cousins) who had never surfed before ( and were a little apprehensive) had an awesome time! We booked the group lesson with transport included ( including the 4 parents). Everything was very well organised. A funny tutorial and instruction/safety brief before they went paddling out left you feeling at ease. Very professional staff, they were looked after very well. They stood up, fell off, got back up and fell off and laughed the whole time! One of our best memories of our Hawaiian holiday. Thank you so much!

We did the $75 group lesson. This was the cheapest lesson we could find, and it was worth every penny. The shop gave us everything we needed (rash guard, surfboards, etc.) and had a brief indoor tutorial and outdoor explanation before going in the water. Of the 2 hour lesson we probably spent at least 1 hour and 15 minutes in the water. That was all the time you needed though because by the end of the lesson we were exhausted! The only issue I had was that we had a surfing lane and some of the other surfers in the lesson ignored the instructions and wouldn't swim out of the way before other surfers went. If the class size had been smaller (i.e. semi-private or private lesson, which HH surf school also offer), this likely would not have been an issue.

Me and my husband attended a group lesson at Waikiki beach. The staff at the store were patient and went through safety details thoroughly. We signed a waiver that if we are injured the school is not liable. During the surf I was almost pushed onto the break wall, luckily I fell to the other side and didn't hit on the wall. It was very dangerous and I didn't even receive an apology. My husband didn't enjoy the experience either as the younger instructor kept telling him to paddle to different places and got him exhausted before catching any wave. Overall the experience is even worse than the family run boutique surf school we went in Maui.
