Tour Waimea Canyon, dubbed by Mark Twain as the " Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Although Mark Twain never visited the island, he must have seen enough of it to judge the unparalleled grandeur of this famous Kauai landmark. It is truly a spectacular sight. Mount Waialeale is known as the wettest spot on earth with an average annual rainfall of approximately 450 inches. Most of the mountain rain drains into the nearby Alakai Swamp, home to several rare species of plants and birds. Wailua Falls is also known as Fantasy Island Waterfalls for their cameo appearance weekly in the TV series of the same name. The legendary Na Pali Coast, with its dramatic cliffs chiseled by time and remote beaches is spellbinding no matter how many times you see it. This is the home of the legendary Bali Hai as seen in the 20th Century Fox movie, South Pacific.

One Of The First, Still The Best. We first flew with Will Squyres three decades ago. New name, but we have since flown with his son Jed Squyers and others. Most companies provide similar tours like this one. While Sunshine doesn't offer landings, they have always given us our money's worth and then some. Great flying and narration, taking advantage of weather and other opportunities - for example this trip there were whales offshore, and our pilot flew over slowly (at a respectable height, no disturbance noted) so we could get a good luck. This meant our 55 minute tour went overtime a little but that was OK with the company. Great experience, enjoyed several times now.

A thrilling experience to see the beauty of the island for unreachable parts by land from above. We got to see where some of our hikes were from the air like the Waiman Canyon and the Kalalau Trail hikes. The female pilot was in the service in Afghanistan and was very knowledgeable and welcoming. We were so lucky to get the coveted front row seats. The candy apple helicopter is so pretty and photogenic. The whole process was very efficient and clear to follow. Our experience with Sunshine tours was certainly a highlight of our Kauai trip.

Incredible flight over Kauai. Stunning views of the island, especially the canyon, coast and many, many waterfalls. I don't love flying or heights, and we went on a rainy day, so I was admittedly quite scared for a lot of the flight! But the pilot was very calm, relaxed, confident and knowledgeable and we were clearly very safe - just my own anxiety at play. The other passengers on my flight weren't at all concerned. Advice: go on a sunny/calmer day (if possible!), and pay extra for the front row seats. You're already spending a lot of money on the flight, you may as well spend a little more to make your views MUCH better than they would be from the middle seats in row 2.
