Crystal River
This tour is ALL about finding the best manatee spots and utilizing our clear kayaks to give you the best viewing possible without getting wet! Crystal River is known as the “Manatee Capital of the World.” On this tour, we want our guests to experience Manatees in their natural habitat. Crystal River is fed by dozens of natural springs, which makes it is a hotspot during Florida’s “colder” months. Between November and March, hundreds of manatees migrate inland to the springs to seek refuge and stay warm. We can’t control where they might be in the area, but our experienced guides will take you to where they are most active! While manatees are our main focus of this tour, we often see dolphins, fish, turtles, birds, and more! This 2-2.5 hour guided adventure includes a relaxed paddle through Kings Bay to Hunter Springs, Jurassic Springs, and beyond in Crystal River. Check this paddle off your manatee bucket list! We launch at Kings Bay Park located at: 268 NW 3rd St, Crystal River, FL 34428

Shaggy was a great tour guide. Before leaving the dock he talked us through the does and don’ts of behaviour around manatees. We saw lots of manatees, including moms and calves. I would definitely recommend this tour as a must do if you’re in the Crystal River area.

Such a great tour! We spent a couple hours paddling with Shade around several areas he knew might have manatees hanging around. We hit the jackpot! We were the only people at our first stop where several manatees were resting, then paddled an area where several were coming and going as we made our way to the manatee sanctuaries. Each sanctuary we stopped at had too many manatees to count. We saw several mamas & babies too! Shade did a great job educating us about the area and the manatees. He also made sure to remember all of our names and went out of his way to talk to our kids & get to know them & their interests. Highly recommend!

We were very happy with our tour and tour guide - he did a great job. The manatees were not particularly active when we were out and our guide did his best to find good spots for us. He was very friendly and had lots of good information about the nature and the area. I couldn't fault his tour-giving. We thought the glass bottom kayak would let us have a much better view of the manatees than a regular kayak, but since the manatees were all in the spring (which was closed to us for their protection) and not swimming underneath us, actually I don't believe the glass bottom kayak offered much benefit over a regular kayak. It is also slightly more work to paddle than a regular kayak due to the shape. I don't regret choosing the glass bottom kayak for the novelty value at all, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in them, but if I were to go out again in the same area, I would probably choose a regular kayak for the second visit.

Hello! Thank you for choosing to paddle with us. We are glad you enjoyed your time with Chris! There is so much to see through the kayaks, not just the manatee - so we are hopeful that you were able to enjoy your time regardless! Of course, we cannot control the manatees and wish we could have them swim under the kayaks as that is such a cool experience.. Either way, thank you for the review and we hope paddle with you again!
