My husband and I drove up from Chicago (about a 3.5 hr drive on 7-13-19). We purchased the house tour tickets in advance for $20.00 pp because we didn't know how crowded it was going to be. I would recommend purchasing them in advance, just in case. They charge you like $5.00 processing fee but that was okay with us. The house tour last about 30 min. We both really enjoyed it and thought it was worth the price. There were only 6 people total in our group, so we had a lot of time to ask questions, pose for pictures with Craig our tour guide (inside and outside of the house) and walk around the inside of the house taking pictures. You do have to put on booties over your shoes (provided free), to keep the floors clear, again we were okay with that.
Craig was our tour guide who did an excellent job and came all dressed up in the old style SOX uniform - which really made it exciting. He was very nice and had a ton of information for us about how they found THIS house for the movie, the actors, extras, baseball field set and props they used for the movie etc.
After the tour we then tried to disappear in the corn fields - lol That was COOL. Then we played catch in the baseball field and walked around touched the bases. Bring your own bat, ball and glove or sit on the benches and watch the other families play ball. There were kids up to grandparents there and everyone was having a great time. They also have picnic tables and plenty of parking. Yes they have souvenirs for sale and some items may be a little pricey, but most are very reasonable. We purchased (2) post cards for .50 each and a book with all the details about the movie, pictures, actors etc for $20.00. If you have watched the movie over and over like we have (and still do), then you have gotta come see it in person. It was a once in a life time dream come true to see it in person.... If you build it they will come...
