I am super happy a local friend suggested doing a tour with Atlanta Food Walk! They had already done the Downtown Southern Food Walk, and so we selected the Grant Park Past & Future Food Walk.
Lauren was awesome. Nothing but great things to say about her. She was fun yet relaxed, easily learned everyone's names, and was full of extra suggestions beyond her great story telling of Atlanta's history.
Loved all of the stops we did, and it certainly was enough food for me! We had 12 items (7 main dishes, 3 drinks, and 2 desserts) and I'm super glad I only had a smallllll smoothie for breakfast as I would have been unable to eat it all. The food was delicious! A super good mix of items and really cool restaurants with lots of character that I wouldn't have checked out had I not been on the tour.
The walk wasn't super long (like 1.2 miles total I think Lauren had said) because there were so many stops and things to learn about. The cemetery was really lovely and had loads of history and notable sites. She delved into the stories of individuals who were buried there, as well as the general history of Atlanta's origins and the civil war. Because there is so much to share there is a bit of standing, so bring a coat on a colder day!
Overall, highly recommended! Was a great way to spend an afternoon and get both a glimpse into the history and cuisine of the area!
