We took a wonderful carriage ride through some of Moses Cone Manor’s 26 miles of carriage trails. The scenery was absolutely stunning - the glass smooth reflection off Bass Lake, the shaded, rhododendron lined trails and old apple orchards. A stop at the 19th century Manor house and then under the Blue Ridge Parkway and across the wide-open pastures with great views of distant mountains. Chad even made a short detour at our request to see the historic apple barn. We have been horseback riding in the park every year on our fall visits but wanted a way to include our parents who were not up two hours in a saddle. This was a perfect option. Chad showed us a great time and his horses and equipment are well cared for. He even offered us each a turn at driving. The trip was about 3 hours. We met at the gravel parking area at the intersection of Bass Lake Dr on Hwy 221 only 0.6 miles outside Blowing Rock. When you call be sure to leave a message. He doesn’t take or return calls while out with guests.

We booked this carriage ride because my husband hurt his ankle and couldn't walk long distances. This ride was a 3 hour (we had a rest room break), 10 mile ride through the winding trails of a beautiful 3500 acre park. Our guide was the owner of the company, and we enjoyed his company. I would put this as a must do, perfect for anyone. We hope to take this ride in the spring when the flowers are out.
