As the Pigeon River comes out of the steeper parts of the gorge it calms down a bit. Beginning at our outpost, the Lower Section of the Pigeon River is perfect for those looking for a scenic float trip of the Smoky Mountains. Ages 3 and up. Experience is not required, and each raft will have one of our professional guides.

Public transportation options are available nearby
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Minimum age: 3 years old
Guests will then meet their personal guide and recieve the necessary equipment,
Including a PFD (aka life jacket), helmet and paddle.
After your guide double-checks to make sure all equipment is fitted properly, guests then hop on our bus for a short 10-minute ride to the launching point for your trip.
All guest must have secured shoes on, NO FLIP FLOPS / NO BARE FEET

Me and the family did the lower river rafting. My boys are 9 and 6. We had a fantastic time! Cant wait to go again. Erica was so great with my boys. Let them jump in and swim during calm periods and paddle when we werent needed to. The lower river rafting was necessary because my little one wasnt old enough for the upper river. It was perfect for a first time experience with minimal work.

Jordan was our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the rivers in this area. He stopped and let the grandkids ( ages 6 and 12) get out and swim in the water two different times. The ages of our party ranged from 6 to 70 years old, and everyone had the best time. Our guide went out of his way to make sure everyone had an amazing time! We highly recommend Big Creek Expeditions to make your memories special!!

Our boys are 8 and 10 and this was a perfect intro for them. Our guide, Stoney, was energetic, fun, and knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone!
