think every blue blooded American needs to visit this place at lease once in their lives. I grew up in the Space Shuttle generation. I've recently been doing some research and reading on the different flight programs, and I had an opportunity to visit. I am so glad that I did.
When you first arrive, you see the Space Shuttle on top of the big ass airplane that it was transported. There was also a Space X rocket on display.
I did, however, make the mistake of going on a day where like 900 kids groups were visiting. They offer tram rides to the different places (like Control Center, or the Space Shuttle). Since it's very hot outside, I don't think you can simply walk around the grounds. So we could not get on a tram ride.
We stayed inside the grounds of the main museum. For what you pay, I don't think it's a lot. I guess I figure it's an investment to keep the space program running. There was info on the gemini, mercury, apollo, space shuttle programs and now MARS exploration. If you're a nerd, you'll definitely love it.
Accessible by car. Parking isn't free exactly; the lot is vast, but when you buy tickets, you also essentially pay for parking. K. Whatevs.
