The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 6 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for a ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush a dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Total Tour Time: 1.5 hours - includes 1 hour with the dogsled team (aprox 30 min sled ride) and approx 30 min round trip flightseeing

Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.

Outstanding company! Booked a week before my scheduled Glacier visit and dog sledding tour after another one was canceled due to rain and fog. This company is professional and very responsive via email when trying to get questions answered while on a cruise ship. They responded quickly, and I called the next day while in port to book it. After booking, I received several emails confirming and asking me to fill out paperwork and a waiver, which I did immediately. Got a series of reminder emails a few days before and the day before. Upon arrival and check-in, everyone was so helpful and genuine. The process was run well and like clockwork. The tour before ours ran late and caused us to leave late, but that didn't have any bearing on our getting the full-time promised when we booked our tours. It was smooth and couldn't have been better. The tour itself was also excellent. The helicopter pilot was super friendly and extremely helpful when leading us to the glacier on the helicopter. He pointed things out and took epic pictures of us on our dog sledding tour. The dog sledding tour itself was better than I could have imagined and one of the highlights of my overall trip. Again this company knows what they are doing, they are people-friendly and super customer-focused. I highly recommend this company and the tour overall. Yes, it is pricey to go dog sledding, but if you've ever dreamed of doing so, this is the time and place. The drive out to the Knik River Lodge is beautiful. Highly recommend!!

Alaska Helicopter tours was truly first class! They made it easy to book online and when I had to rebook I was able to quickly reach an actual live human being on the phone who changed our booking with no questions and no change fees!!! Amazing in todays world. On the day of our tour the check in process was easy and the staff was friendly. Coming from a military aviation background I can say the helicopters appeared in excellent operating condition, an appropriate safety brief was given, and the pilot was very professional. On our flight out to the dogsledding camp our pilot Steven pointed out wildlife and gave us a brief history lesson on the glaciers. He flew the aircraft in a safe, professional manner. The views were amazing, even on a cloudy rainy day. When we arrived at the Dogsledding camp we met our guide Gabby, an enthusiastic and energetic musher. She showed us briefly how to drive the sled and we were off on a 20-30 min dogsledding adventure. That was long enough as it was cold and rainy, but the experience was priceless. On return to the camp we were introduced to the dogs that had pulled us. What amazing animals! We then got to see and hold three 10wk old puppies. Overall this was an amazing experience, well worth the cost, and something my wife and I will not forget. Alaska Helicopter Tours will certainly get our return business, we actually have another flight booked tomorrow!!
