On our first visit to NYC, my husband and I purchased many tours, one of which was the "Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Guided Tour w/Pedestal". Amazing! We were given very clear instructions on where to meet, time, what to look for and even cancellation instructions if needed. It couldn't have been any easier! We were greeted by Michael, our fabulous tour guide, who got everyone together, explained/narrated everything fully AND interestingly, and explained where to meet at various intervals of the tour. Michael was knowledgeable, personable, and engaging without being "forced". Loved it!
The tour itself was comprehensive. The ferry ride had plenty of room with great views (Michael suggested where to be for the best views!) of the approaching sites. After climbing the 257 steps (puff*puff* pant*pant*) to the top of the pedestal (there is an elevator for those who cannot climb) for some great views, Michael took the group around to the optimum viewing area and took pictures for us! No selfies necessary here!
We then boarded the ferry to Ellis Island for yet another fantastic, informative event. When we were finished and ready to leave, we boarded the ferry (about a 20 minute wait) for the return trip. Again, lots of room, snack bar, and restrooms available.
Overall a fantastic tour and a very personal introduction to iconic, historical sites. Plan on an all-day event---so worth it!
