Each tour is lead by an experienced Navajo guide, who is certified by the Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation Dept. and National Park Service. Each and everyone of our guides was born and raised in this Canyon De Chelly area, allowing them to gain a vast knowledge of its history to share with all our guests who visit this place we call home. As well as learning about the canyon's rich history, rock art sites and other archeological sites, you will hear stories and tales of life in the canyon and get a chance (time permitted and seasonal option) to visit our guide's families who still weave, farm, ranch, and continue to live a traditional Navajo lifestyle in this rural part of the southwest. I was very glad I booked this tour. It was a beautiful introduction to the canyon and the history of its inhabitants. Viola was a great tour guide. There was something special about being guided by someone who grew up in the canyon and spent so much time there as a child. We could imagine what it was like to live there and to be so familiar with all of the natural landmarks. She was very responsive to our request to hike a little and took us through a cave and onto a rock ledge with stunning views. I highly recommend both the tour and Viola.

The best part of the tour is actually going into the canyon floor. Our guide was very entertaining and kjnowledgeable about ancient and recent history and architecture. It was lots of fun in the jeep going through the water and rough terrain. We recommend this company highly.
