Our meeting time of 8:30 is the optimal time as we are one of the first to get on and usually get back before the strong afternoon winds pick up. Kayaking on lake Yellowstone on a old volcano is truly one of the top five things to do while in the park. With our small group tours we are able to personalize the tour and really show our guests this place in a unique way. All of our kayaks have a rudders which is very important on windy days and is a great way to steer with ease. Our naturalist guides/level 3 ACA certified trip leaders are in the top of their field and have years of experience, this helps when talking about Yellowstone as a naturalist and safety as a seasoned guide. Kayaking past the west thumb geyser and Potts geyser basin is a truly special way see this area of Yellowstone lakes thermal features, With our fast and stable kayaks we are able to cover more ground safety to optimize guests overall experience

We went out on a beautiful Sunday morning as part of a group of 8 led by Annie from Shurr Adventures. She got us prepped in our kayaks and we set off on a 6 mile trip to see some steam vents and geysers. The lake is beautiful and serene, but she pointed out where there was thermal activity going on just below us. We spotted a mature bald eagle that preened a bit for our entertainment. Yellowstone provides so many great activities. I'm very glad we took the time to get out on the lake with an experienced guide. I highly recommend using Shurr!

I was worried about an early morning (8:30) kayak trip in chilly weather, but the email that was sent in advance was very thorough about how to prepare. Then, luckily, we had an amazingly beautiful day. The kayaking was easy and leisurely, but packed with interesting information and lots of laughs. Evan was a fantastic guide, and my brother and I are thrilled that we did it!

A really fun relaxing paddle on Lake Yellowstone. Lake Yellowstone is a beautiful lake to kayak on. We did the early morning tour, a little brisk at the beginning but not too bad. This was a leisurely paddle for 6 miles along the coastline. Very cool at one point we stopped over an area where the water was bubbling due to an underwater geyser. At the halfway point we made a stop for snacks and our guide (sorry forgot his name but he was excellent) gave us a great overview of the lake. We chose a tandem kayak since we weren't sure of the currents but honestly you could have a single without any problem at all. Not a taxing activity, more of a laid-back relaxing tour. Really enjoyable morning!
