1
2
Oconaluftee
5
Newfound Gap Road
7
Morton Overlook
11
Sugarlands
12
Sugarlands Valley
15
Roaring Fork Motor
16
Rainbow Falls
17
Grotto Falls

Highly recommend this tour for anyone going through Smoky Mountains National Park. You can enter two ways and GPS will automatically trigger the next snippet. We have broken it up into two days to handle the two different loops so we can hike along the way. With the history included, getting out to see the cabins that were otherwise similar wouldn't have made sense. We wanted to see each building and looked forward to the next. Do wish it had Cades Cove on it, but be sure to get to that location separately!

We followed the instructions since being in the Smokies the phone service is limited, so be sure to download before you start your tour. We also always go into tours or anything with the mindset that things are never perfect and we will never let that ruin our vacation. Once we started, it was very enjoyable. It gave great details for each stop along the way. It was nice to be able to drive along listening to it tell a story, then make a stop at say a historical home and get out to explore. While at the home it would tell us about the home and the family that lived there. It was nice to have your own personal narrator while we walked around the home and grounds rather than having to stand there in the hot sun trying to read the plaque that rarely gave near the details that the app did. There were a few hiccups along the way and a few places that I wish we could have had more information, but overall like I said I wasn't going to let that ruin the overall day. That was minor compared to how our day went. I would definitely purchase again for another city that I am visiting. It would be fun to have some links to additional stories of these families that we could even go deeper into the history. Also, if you really like to explore you definitely need to plan longer than a few hours.

This is so awesome to hear! Thank you so much! We’re always adding stories into the Learn More sections so we can definitely focus more on the families and details that you mentioned. Would you mind emailing us with some specifics? We can incorporate your feedback into the next planned update that day. I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the tour! For future self-guided tours, please check out the other cities and parks we cover at ActionTourGuide.com.

We were not impressed. We arrived and the random spot on the street. It was not clear that this was where the tour started. There was no where to park and the directions weren’t clear you had to have the hour going when you arrived. I’d save my money and just go get ice cream next time.

The tour begins at either the Sugarlands Visitor Center or the Cherokee Visitor Center (based on which side you’re starting on). Neither is in the middle of a road. Was that the only problem? Were you able to drive through the Smokies and listen to the rest of the tour? Please note that we’re available for questions nearly 24/7 over call, chat, or email.
