It was my husband and my 30th wedding anniversary, and since we've both been vaccinated, we decided to take a week off for the first time in over a year. Of course, after all this time, there's very little we can give each other that we don't already have. We've done "Dig This" in the past ( when they were at their old site) and my husband loved the excavators, so I went on line to book an experience for us both (one excavator each).
Then I saw the "Aggression Session". They hadn't had "the car crash" the last time we were there, and it was the perfect gift for him. Basically, you use the excavator for 30 minutes to demolish an old car they get from a junkyard that was going to be crushed anyway. Even better, you can decorate it any way you want to first!
My husband has been thoroughly caught up in the political situation over the last 4 or 5 years, so this was perfect! I purchased a bunch of bumper stickers and even a political party flag to apply to the vehicle pre-destruction, but most people just use the spray paint provided. You should have seen his face when he opened his present, just to find political propaganda for the opposite side! Then he found the reservation for the "Aggression Session" at the bottom of the box, to follow our excavator sessions.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Ricardo, who walked us through a safety video and made certain we understood how to be safe in the machinery. Then we went outside to gear up and make sure the headsets functioned and we again reviewed the safety briefing. Honestly, inside the excavator you're perfectly safe; Ricardo was the person potentially in danger, so we understood the safety protocols completely. In fact, it's so safe that there's a special area with smaller equipment for children; there was a birthday party going on while we were there, and the kids were having a blast!
My husband and I (a 57 year old woman) had a great time. We each had our own excavator, and Ricardo took us through digging a hole, picking up and moving giant tires, then picking up and moving small basketballs into a designated area. The cabs were sanitized between uses, and completely air conditioned, which was wonderful for the Las Vegas heat.
Then came the "car crash". I got to help decorate the car, then moved to the observation area to film the whole thing. I haven't seen my husband grin like that in years! Ricardo took him through every step of the destruction process, ultimately folding the entire vehicle in half. My husband retrieved the tattered flag as a souvenir. Seriously, the best present ever.
He was glad that he'd done the excavator session first, so he was familiar to the machine, but it isn't necessary, as Ricardo walked him through the whole process. They also have bulldozers, but my husband preferred the excavator last time, so that's what I scheduled. Plus, that's what is used to destroy the car.
We both had a great time, and I'd repeat it in a heartbeat. Thanks, Ricardo!
