The Official Art Deco Gift Shop

Founded in 1976, The Miami Design Preservation League has proudly offered guided walking tours of The Art Deco District for over 40 years. All Proceeds go towards supporting preservation. Visitors are introduced to the history, architecture, and preservation efforts of Miami Beach. Tour ticket includes free admission to the Art Deco Museum and Gift Shop. There are a limited amount of tickets available for each tour, so early bookings are encouraged . Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure for check-in.

This walking tour brought life to the wonderful Art Deco buildings of South Beach. We had a wonderful guide who was both knowledgable and passionate about Art Deco and the buildings of South Beach. We did the tour in the morning, 10.30am, and for more than 90 minutes wandered the streets and a rooftop of South Beach. Get to the Art Deco Welcome Centre at the corner of Ocean Drive and 10th street 10-15 minutes in advance to get your tickets and have a look at the little museum. The walking tour starts right on time at 10.30. Highlights, seeing the building that was home to Gianni Versace whilst it was being used for filming for a movie on his life, Inside Essex House, the Tides building and South Beach from the rooftop.

Very nice walking tour of the art deco district. Informative and entertaining. Such a rich history during each decade going back nearly 100 years.

Weather you are in to Architecture or not - this tour is not to be missed by anyone visiting the Miami area! It is very much more than walking around looking a buildings. I learned so much of insider history of Miami Beach that I feel like I have been there my whole life. Melissa, our tour guide, brought the creation of the area and these buildings to life in such a way as to transport you back in time. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that at any moment, I almost expected whatever famous (or infamous) person she was talking about to walk out the door of the building we were in front of! Not to mention that even though I am very interested in history - there were things I learned about the Art Deco period I was totally unaware of. I never realized just how much thought and creativity went into creating these gorgeous buildings - especially, those little details most people just walk on by. In my opinion, no trip to Miami or the Miami area is complete without taking a stroll back in time on this fabulous tour....and don't forget to stop by the gift shop adjoining the museum for the opportunity to take home an Art Deco treasure for your own home! Please be generous - these buildings wouldn't be here today without the efforts of this worthy non-profit organization.
