I can't say enough good things about Mild to Wild!
I took my family there on 7/5/2018 for a 1:30 economy rafting trip. Though I had been rafting before many, many years ago the rest of my family hadn't been. We wanted something immersive, fun and not too long in the event someone didn't care for it.
The entire experience was great from the moment we stepped in the door. We checked in and purchased some Croakies for our sunglasses, settled in for a short safety video and got ready for our rafting trip. The staff was great, cheerful, full of energy and got us more excited as each moment went by. We went out and waited for a few groups to come back from their trip and got properly fitted for our PFDs (personal flotation device) and got our oars and on the bus we went. The ride to the "put-in" was short and the guides on the bus got everyone hyped up. There's another safety briefing while all of the rafts get off-loaded and out into the river and then you're set.
Our guide was Richard. He was fantastic! It was clear he knew the river very well. We got on the water quickly and ahead of the crowd and didn't get stuck that often. It was easy to get stuck on this trip because the water level was so low but it didn't affect the experience. Richard was funny and seemed to have a great time with us teasing and being as goofy as we were along the way. Next time we go I hope we get Richard!
The best parts of the trip for us were the lake where we got out and swam and the the "big rapids" or "slides". It was exactly what we wanted. We were lucky and had the bonus of it raining on our trip. It was completely amazing!
I will say that Mild ti Wild is popular and there is a wait for the buses to come and take you to the put-in but its really not that bad. I also recommend getting the picture package. It's worth the price!
We will be back, we will use Mild to Wild and I recommend them to anyone looking to go rafting in Durango.
