We had our wedding this weekend outside of Durango and my brother-in-law arranged for 8 of us to go for a rafting trip the day after the wedding. We had mostly adults in their 30's-50's and my father-in-law, who is in his late 70's, along for the ride. We signed up for the "mild" lower Animas 3 hour trip and it was not a disappointment. None of us are experienced rafters so we were relieved that the trip didn't expect too much from us and we felt very safe at all times. There were some 3+ rapids which was perfect for our experience level yet still very fun. Our guide, Jon, was really entertaining throughout the ride and there was another guide from the company (Don) who took out another family out at the same time who seemed really great with kids and also helped us get out on the raft. My husband and I live nearby and have people from out of town visit us frequently so we are looking forward to using this company in the future when we want to take people rafting!
Of note, the water is VERY cold (42 degrees F) even in June so bring a wetsuit or rent one unless it is REALLY hot out because it was cloudy when we went and even in the wetsuits we got a little bit chilly when we got splashed.

Congratulations on your wedding Star! Thank you for the lovely and detailed review! We truly appreciate the time you take to write so much about Mild to Wild. Safety is our number one priority so we're happy to hear you felt secure at all times! Jon and Don are both fantastic guides, we'll definitely tell them how much you enjoyed the trip. And thank you for the recommendation about wetsuits in June. We completely agree! The snowmelt water can get very chilly! We're excited to have you back again! Keep in touch and all the best to the newlyweds! :)
