We had a blast today rafting! Trudy made the white water rafting trip super fun. She and my nine year old daughter are new bff’s! If your looking for cool family fun, look no further! Ask for Trudy, she’s the BEST!!!

Did the 1/2 day river rafting with our family (10, 8 and 6 year old) this past weekend. Everyone had an amazing time! You meet at their building (right across from Hampton Inn) at the end of town. You check in (pay cash or card) and they have bathrooms on site. They will try to sell you water guns for the kids ($5 rental). We ended up just getting one for all 3 kids and only the youngest used it the whole time. If you have littles, I would recommend getting one since they will probably not want to use the paddle and it will keep them busy for the trip. They also provide helmets, life jackets and paddles which you get before getting on bus. They require everyone to wear masks on bus. I brought a ziplock baggie to put phone and our masks in once we got to the river so they would not get wet (highly recommend this). The guide does have a dry bag but if you want your phone near you for pics, a baggie by you is easier. Also would bring a few water bottles. Once we got off bus, they unloaded rafts and we were on the river. Probably around a 3 hour float. Luckily it had rained the night before so the river was up more than normal. The guide did say the river had been much lower and was already going back down. The night before it poured and they do go out no matter whether it is raining or not. We were lucky with perfect weather. However, I would recommend booking morning trips since it usually rains in the afternoon every day (or did when we were there). The boat seats 10 - I think they try not to put that many on the boat though. There were 4 groups with us (2 couples and 2 families). One of the couples asked not to be with kids, so we ended up riding with the other family (9 of us total). It was a little crowded but better than being on a boat with couples who would not want to be around kids. The kids actually all enjoyed the ride and having other kids on the boar. They will allow kids 4 and up. Only had one big rapid which is where they take pictures of you for purchase when you get back. The river flows fast and there are lots of smaller rapids throughout. For adults only, I would recommend a little higher level - 3 or 4, but if you have kids, stick to this one. They did make the kids sit in the center when we went over the big rapids so they would not fall out. We were able to get out and swim about 3 times but did have to ask our guide to do so. I would recommend at least getting in the river a few times and wear water shoes/tennis shoes since the banks are all rocks. We went with the kayaks as well, so we could see them the whole time. It looked fun, but definitely not for kids and be prepared to be freezing the whole time since you are mostly sitting in water. We did have to wait for about 10 minutes for the bus to come and pick up all up at the end but we went and just sat in river while we waited. Great trip with beautiful views and definitely worth doing if you are in Durango area.

Had the best time with the family - kids are 4, 6 and 9. Felt safe the whole time. Guide was amazing, involved and informative. Great with the kids. Lauren was great! #Lauren
