2 Hour Pottery Experience (Wheel or Hand-Building)

All of our pottery experiences are one-time, two-hour sessions guided by local Santa Fe artists and geared toward travelers, newbies, and anyone looking for a fun introduction to pottery. At the end of class, students will recycle their pieces, but you need not walk away empty handed. Each student gets $15 off of a piece from our gallery, which is full of pottery handcrafted by our teachers.

In the wheel-throwing experience, students will dive into the most popular method of making ceramics. Working at the wheel is a meditative, yet challenging process. In this two-hour class, our potters will take you through the process of throwing a piece of pottery on the wheel.

In our hand-building experience, students will learn the ancient techniques of working with clay by hand through sculpting, coil-building, or slab-building. The slowness of these methods allow for deeper connection with the material and total freedom of expression through clay.

We planned a last-minute trip to Santa Fe and always enjoy doing something creative. Paseo Pottery was a great, low-key experience. Wes (instructor) and Angela (owner) made the experience great. Our class was about 8 people (6 adults, 2 kids) and Wes did a great job of getting us set up and throwing some clay! It’s clear they are both artists and the studio was a real, working studio.

We had no experience beforehand and have wanted to try it for a while. It was a wonderful experience. Recycling the clay at the end was a nice touch since we are visiting and would not have been able to take it home anyway. Thank you!

We did a family session with Lindsey and had a wonderful time. We were all rank beginners at the wheel and she was patient, encouraging, warm, and quick to laugh. We learned a newfound appreciation for potters as we struggled at the wheel, but that was part of the fun, we had a lot of laughs, and it was a great family experience. The studio is spacious and well equipped, had a terrific soundtrack going, and includes a small shop from which we bought a piece. Highly recommend the Pottery Experience, which also supports the local community.
