Just an okay experience for $175 a person. Worth more like $75 a person. The Tomcats have great suspension for the extremely rocky trails but they top out at about 20 mph on the trails and can only just barely climb mild hills. Their original engines have been swapped out with 30 hp engines more suitable for golf carts. The brakes were also horrible as they were not power assisted. Tomcats may be legendary machines in original form but not with these engines and brakes. Our guide was the highlight. He was charismatic, knowledgeable, interesting, and funny. The best part of the 3 hour Tomcat tour was getting out of the Tomcats to hear about the Sonoran Desert plants and animals from our guide. Sadly, most of the time was spent slowly puttering along rocky and hilly trails and we saw no animals and no emphasis was put on seeing any animals. I was also disappointed that I emailed Desert Wolf Adventures weeks before our trip but never got a response to my questions. I was further disappointed with the disorganized meeting method. We arrived 45 minutes early so we tried to sit down at the restaurant but the waitress instructed me to go out back and make sure my group wasn’t about to leave. She never volunteered to check for us so I ended up wasting 10 minutes going out back and waiting to ask a group leader which group was about to leave. They should have signs indicating which groups are meeting or communicate better with the restaurant staff. I then returned to the restaurant to have a different waitress literally yell at me when I took too long to decide which pop to order. All in all, even without the bad start, the tour is overpriced and the Tomcats are too slow for the tour to be exciting.
