One of the best things to do in Chicago is the see the city from the top of its skyscraper and the Hancock Center is one of the best. It may have lost some of its ranking in the world, country and even the city, but it is still just as high with just as good as views. Speaking of views both the north and south facing views are some of the best in the city. Looking south you really get the best views of the skyscrapers of the Loop, like the Willis, and the river. Looking North, the building is perfectly located to see Lincoln Park and the norther lakefront.
One of the really cool things to do here is the Tilt, where you stand in a window frame and it tilts you out of the building looking straight down. We visited as part of our City Pass which allows you to visit at a specific time and beat the crowds. However, you can not buy a Tilt with it, but once you reach the top you can buy a ticket there. If you don't go on a weekend or special day, you should not have a problem getting a Tilt ticket.
Finally, this is a unique piece of American architecture, like so much of Chicago, and beautiful exterior. Its pyramid style design with exterior cross supports allows the building to be a massive volume of space. You can't keep from taking pictures on the Magnificent Mile.
