My husband and I were in TC for our 28th anniversary weekend. We wanted to visit wineries and decided to schedule a tour so we could enjoy the wineries and not worry about driving. Listen….we were totally spoiled! We were actually thinking they’d cancel because the weather the prior day had been horrible with a big snowstorm. We were the only two signed up and yet they still honored the reservation rather than cancel. Can’t tell you how much we appreciated this. Mike was our guide and right from his “Welcome to Traverse City” we were treated like royalty as he transported us around in his own Tahoe! He took us to Hawthorne, Bowers, Brys and Bonobo, all wineries we’ve never been to, welcoming us at each winery, introducing us to staff and giving his recommendations at each stop. He will tell you he’s not a good influence and you should believe him ;-). We came home with 24 bottles, plus a jug of hard cider. all gathered and packed by Mike when we told him what we wanted to buy. We found ourselves proud club members at Hawthorne (again that influence by Mike and no regrets here), hard cider owners at Bowers (Mike will tell you to try the blackberry/peach mix. You should do what he tells you although I’m wishing now I had tried a sip of the cherry too) and wishing Lucy, the golden doodle, hadn’t been on vacation, and totally spoiled at Brys with a wonderful cheese and charcuterie board, a Frose’ (get the topper Mike will recommend - yolo!) plus a tasting tower (we were sharing the towers at this point because the wineries are generous plus Mike would appear with another welcome and a glass for us to try another recommendation - at this point everything was funny! )and some out of this world lavender products from their own lavender! Our last stop, Bonobo, had the best small plates (they are my love language - get the goat cheese plate and the barbacoa taco!) and delicious wine with a killer view. Each winery was just perfect with amazing views and delicious wines, but the best was having Mike squire us around, breaking bread with us and making our special day even more special with a new friend. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back and we will be asking for Mike! See you in March or April!
