All-Access 9/11: Ground Zero Tour, Mémorial et Musée, One World Observatory

Aperçu
This deeply personal tour of Ground Zero begins at the site of what served as a rescue center for victims and place for mementos after the attacks: St. Paul's Chapel. The historic church was miraculously unharmed when the Twin Towers fell.

You'll then walk to the 9/11 Memorial where we'll reflect on the lives lost in the World Trade Center attacks. See "Reflecting Absence," the largest man-made waterfalls on the continent. Your guide will share the meaning behind the memorial, stories from the day, and how New Yorkers came together in the aftermath.

Afterward, visit the 9/11 Museum with your skip-the-line ticket for a self-guided tour of the exhibits and artifacts. Next, walk over to Freedom Tower, and in the lobby, you can watch "Voices," a film about the Twin Towers and Freedom Tower, before riding the SkyPod elevator 1,250 feet up. Visit the tri-level One World Observatory for panoramic views of NYC, immersive LED displays, and the See Forever Theater.

The joining instructions from ExperienceFirst are very clear and the people in orange hats greeting you are easy to spot. Just be mindful that there are also other (unofficial) people with orange hats hanging around. Our group tour started just before 10:30am and it was brilliant! Our guide, Helene, spoke loudly and clearly and was interesting to listen to. She kept us to good time and gave us lots, but not an overwhelming amount of, information which we loved. We spent about 90 minutes around the site, mostly outside, learning about the past, present and future of the site with little details that were important to learn. This is a MUST DO tour. For people wanting to visit this site, it's usually for a reason and you would miss out on so much not having done this tour which is why I think it's essential when you visit. Once the tour was over around 12pm, Helene escorted us to the museum and we then went in without having to wait in any line. The museum is huge and we spent 2.5 hours there but it could have easily been 3.5 hours. It's a great museum with so many things to see and hear. We then headed outside to get lunch in the sunshine and stopped by a pretzel van opposite the entrance to the observatory and we sat by the old footprint of the World Trade Centre to reflect. The Observatory is a great experience that lasted about an hour. Going at 3pm meant no crowds and we strolled right in. The lift is an experience in itself! There is a nice surprise at the top and great views. All in all, if you want to visit this site, do it properly and book this tour. It's great value and a stand-out experience on our trip to New York.
