We got the all access tour. The first couple of hours are with a tour guide who has a personal connection to 9/11. The anecdotal stories are interesting tid bits you probably haven’t heard before. Our guide was knowledgeable but pretty opinionated, which for tiresome after a while. The guided part ends at the museum, which is when you are on your own. The cafe in the museum was closed, which was disappointing because we could have used a break, but we went on like everyone in our group. The museum has a lot of things. We could have spent more time than we did, but we were getting tired. After a quick lunch from a street vendor, we went to the One World Observatory, which is where you can view the city from one of the top floors of the new WTC. My advice - skip the first part. There are plenty of stories in the museum. You can go at your own pace and spend more time where you want. Also, One World Observatory is OK. Don’t rent the tablet to help identify landmarks. It’s more hassle than its worth. The view is nice, but there is nothing else there. There are no signs or photos showing what you’re looking at. They take your photo and try to sell it to you, and there is a pricey gift shop. This place could be so much more than it is, but for now, they are just trying to make money without making much of an investment. I hope it improves.
