This was a great, not canned, tour of the entire island. The guide (Dee Dee) is life-long MV islander and provided her local knowledge and perspective. She really made the tour interesting and personal. We saw the 3 major towns, several light houses, as well as the cliffs on the west end of the island. She covered much of the island’s history as well as more recent happenings, culture, and local tidbits. Even my 6 and 12 year olds found it interesting. I would highly recommend this tour, it was an excellent value for our family. We did this tour as part of a day trip on the ferry from Woods Hole. Make sure you park an at least 1 hour before your ferry leaves so you have enough time to park, catch the bus to the ferry (20 minute ride), and buy your ferry tickets at the Woods Hole terminal. Dee Dee was waiting for us right across the street from the ferry terminal in Oak Bluffs, MV. It was very easy and convenient.

Our tour guide was the best, she was very interactive with us she was lively bubbly we absolutely loved her and she was also very knowledgeable about the island we learned a lot of history on the tour I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone coming to the island for the first time. My wife dropped her ring on the bus, 20 minutes after the tour was over our tour guide texted us to find out where we were and she brought the ring back to us, she is the greatest and much appreciated thank you. If we could leave 10 Stars on this review it would be an 11 I definitely recommend this tour

Overall the tour was perfect for these reasons and one small thing that could make it event better: 1. Park at Woodshole parking right across from the ticket booth in Woodshole ferry area if you need limited walking or are in a rush. You really need to book or at least calm ahead because they’re typically packed due to their location. Overnight it’s $120 and if you only stay for the day it is worth it to offer to pay the overnight fee because taking your car on the ferry is $106 each way PLUS another $9.50pp, plus the cost of the tour at $50pp so better to buy ferry tix and leave your car bc the price you pay for this tour and the ferry and parking is equivalent to taking your car and driving yourself. So what you get by doing this is the luxury of not having to drive and a tour guide that can show you the island in 3 hrs! Priceless sanity. 2. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and spoke a mile a minute so listen up. Easy to fall asleep on the ride given the monotone speech and vibrations on the bus. 3. It’s a small tour bus for about 15-20 ppl. Mask up and bring a fan of you get hot easy during the warm months as the bus is old. 4. You get off the ferry and meet the bus right across from the ferry ticket office. The bus is blue and the size of a bus typically used for ADA. 5. You literally drive the entire island in 3 hrs. You get one 30 min stop halfway at the lighthouse near Aquinna which is a tribal land with a very small number of shops for souvenir trinkets (pricey though eg tshirt is $22), a very cute women’s shop owned by a historical Aquinna tribe member, a small food shop with warm and cold food, a once cream spot with soft serve cones, port o potty bathrooms, you can tour the lighthouse for a small fee. 6. My advice is to add a stop at Edgartown and add an hour to the tour. It would be well worth it. You need an hour in Edgartown and people can eat and shop more. Also, I would add the option for people to disembark and embark at Aquinna and Edgartown for alternative fees.
