The trip itself was awesome, albeit a little long. Antelope Canyon is fantastic in every way - although if I were to return, I might make the drive by myself up through the desert. The driver we had made me very nervous with some of his maneuvers on the road, which I didn't appreciate, and he also said a few things that personally bothered me - crossing the line. It seemed easy enough to roll into Page, AZ, and book a tour out to the Canyon, which I might do the next time. At the end of the day, when everyone was tired and ready to be home, a group on our tour lingered excruciatingly long at a gift shop 1 hour there and delayed our return to Sedona. Wish our driver would have pressed these folks to get back in the van.
Antelope Canyon is super cool. The crowds and poor management of overcrowding is not. The canyon tour operators need to figure out a better system so guests aren't packed in like sardines. The standard tour guide was pretty good. Great views along the way. If you've never been to Antelope Canyon then this makes it easy from Sedona.
Horse shoe bend and antelope canyon tour was excellent. We left from Sedona and drove in touring van to Horse shoe bend site and on to antelope canyon. both great sites, with antelope canyon being unlike anything we had ever seen. Our Navajo tour guide was very interesting and informative as he took us on walk through the canyon for many pictures. Horse shoe bend involves a hike of about a mile, half being up a sand hill.
The only downside was the long bus ride from Sedona to Antelope canyon and back. Then entire trip took about 12 hours. We were picked up at 6:30am from our condo and were dropped off that evening back at the condo about 6:30pm
Great to see it, once.
