Travel along one of the world’s most isolated roads from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle on this memorable 12 to 14-hour tour through the Alaskan wilderness.

In the company of an experienced guide with a passion for Alaska, journey up the Dalton Highway, passing by the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, crossing the Yukon River, and reaching the edge of the Arctic Circle. On the drive back, watch for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

This tour is limited to 9 guests to ensure that you enjoy a small-group experience in one of our climate-controlled vans.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the Northern Lights sightings and we can't guarantee last minute bookings.

We do encourage each guest to rotate seats at least a few times on this tour.

  • Please dress appropriately. The temperatures can reach extreme conditions during the winter month and we recommend to dress in layers.
  • Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural occurrence and therefore cannot be guaranteed! (no refund possible)
  • The weather conditions are in no way predictable in our area and we will not offer a refund in case of too many clouds.
  • Exact schedule and itinerary of stops are subject to change based on daily conditions and Northern Lights activity on the day of your tour.
  • There is a possibility of cancellation due to dangerous weather and/or road conditions. If this occurs, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.
  • Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required. We are not able to provide gluten free or vegan options as there is limited availability of these items in Alaska.
  • Type of transportation: climate controlled van
  • The group size is limited to 8 people for each passenger van.
  • Customers are strongly encouraged to rotate seats at least a few times on the tour to give each person the opportunity of having a different view.

Seeing the Northern Lights was amazing! The trip to the Artic Circle was awesome, with seeing the Alaska Pipeline, traveling the Dalton Highway and seeing wildlife, in particular a Moose and her calf, standing in the dark along side the Dalton Highway. Jessica, our tour guide was knowledgeable, caring, helpful, and made the trip special with the love of her job! Would do this tour again!

What an amazing trip! Jessica, our guide, was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to ensure we had a safe and memorable trip! God opened up His heavens and showed His beautiful handiwork and blessed us with an amazing Aurora Borealis, that even danced! Also we were blessed with seeing wildlife, a Moose cow and her calf along side the dark highway. Jessica has a keen eye for the wildlife, nature, and those beautiful Northern Lights and drove us safely on ice and snow packed roads. We highly recommend the Artic Circle / Northern Lights Tour through Alaska Wildlife Tours!

Cons: Your itinerary is not guaranteed. We skipped the whole experience at the Yukon River and just stopped at the Camp building to eat and use the restroom. This whole section became a food/bathroom stop: "Enjoy the journey across the Yukon River, as you catch a glimpse of the wildlife that inhabits Sub-Arctic Alaska. The driver was careful on the icy road but probably inexperienced since we arrived at the Arctic Circle at 10.30 pm.

Sabina, The Yukon River is impossible to skip as we must cross it to get to the Arctic Circle, and our guides must stop at the camp for gas and breaks. We are quite clear on our tour page that this tour includes a "Drive across the mighty Yukon River Bridge and stroll along the riverbank and gaze at the scenic landscape." The stop at the camp allows you to walk right next to the river if you choose as it lies right on the northern bank of the river. The tour itinerary is exactly the same every time, and it matches our website precisely. Please call our office if you have further concerns about something that was missed on the tour. All of our guides are trained to encourage guests to rotate seats at each stop so that everyone has a chance to have a different view. Sometimes, other guests do not cooperate with this request, and we do not force anyone to move. We do apologize if someone not moving impacted your tour experience. As far as the late arrival at the Arctic Circle, even the best of drivers have to slow down when facing icy conditions, and that area had just had a recent snowstorm, followed by above freezing conditions, creating much ice on the roads. Even the best drivers must slow down in these conditions, and we would much rather deliver you safely to the Arctic Circle than have our tour van run off the road.
