Travel along one of the world’s most isolated roads from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle on this memorable 12 to 14-hour tour through the Alaskan wilderness.

In the company of an experienced guide with a passion for Alaska, journey up the Dalton Highway, passing by the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, crossing the Yukon River, and reaching the edge of the Arctic Circle. On the drive back, watch for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

This tour is limited to 9 guests to ensure that you enjoy a small-group experience in one of our climate-controlled vans.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the Northern Lights sightings and we can't guarantee last minute bookings.

We do encourage each guest to rotate seats at least a few times on this tour.

  • Please dress appropriately. The temperatures can reach extreme conditions during the winter month and we recommend to dress in layers.
  • Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural occurrence and therefore cannot be guaranteed! (no refund possible)
  • The weather conditions are in no way predictable in our area and we will not offer a refund in case of too many clouds.
  • Exact schedule and itinerary of stops are subject to change based on daily conditions and Northern Lights activity on the day of your tour.
  • There is a possibility of cancellation due to dangerous weather and/or road conditions. If this occurs, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.
  • Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required. We are not able to provide gluten free or vegan options as there is limited availability of these items in Alaska.
  • Type of transportation: climate controlled van
  • The group size is limited to 8 people for each passenger van.
  • Customers are strongly encouraged to rotate seats at least a few times on the tour to give each person the opportunity of having a different view.

The van provided was not suitable for the drive as it should have been in the shop since it had a problem with suspension The second van (that we had to wait almost 2 hours) had a cracked windshield side to side and a low pressure tire Why put your customers at risk?

Ms. Garcia, While we do appreciate your taking our tour and taking the time to provide feedback, we must correct several points made. Safety is absolutely our first priority, and we are proud to have had zero at fault accidents or customer injuries in our over 12 years of operation. We employ a full time mechanic that inspects and maintains all of our vans on a daily basis. The tire pressure on all of our vans is checked daily before all vans depart, and the TPMS lights are unfortunately permanently on in some of our vans even though there is no problem with the tire pressure. The Dalton Highway is a commercial use, dirt road that leads outside the bounds of civilization, and it is unfortunately a rough drive at the end of summer before the snows have filled in the potholes. This road is very hard on any vehicles that venture up there, and our vans are no exception. As stated earlier, all vehicles are thoroughly inspected daily, but due to the nature of this road, parts can and do fail while en route. The suspension on the van you were riding in did experience a failure after the van had set out that day. This failure was caused by a road that is extra bumpy right now due to the overwhelming summer rains we experienced this past season. From the moment our guide called the manager’s phone, who is on call 24 hours per day to assist with any vehicular trouble, our mechanic set out instantly to pick up a new van from our shop and made the 1.5 hour drive to deliver your tour another van. As this drive was longer than 1.5 hours, the fact that we had a new van out to your tour in 2 hours speaks not to our unpreparedness, but rather to how well we respond to any contingency encountered on these adventures into the wilderness. And all of this occurred after hours when our office was closed. We have a dedicated team in place 24 hours per day that is ready and willing to do whatever is possible to assist tours if anything goes wrong. And finally, regarding the replacement van. In Alaska, salt is never used on the roadways in winter, and gravel is used instead for traction. While we avoid moose on the roadways licking up salt, this gravel does have the unfortunate consequence of flying everywhere and chipping windshields everywhere in the state. Almost everyone throughout Alaska that is driving a vehicle more than a week old has cracks in their windshield as this is completely unavoidable here. We never operate any vehicles whose cracks obscure the driver’s view in any way, and we do replace multiple windshields on every van every single year. We can assure you that the replacement van on your tour was 100% safe, and still is currently safely transporting passengers far from civilization and into the Alaskan wilderness.

Gavin was very knowledgeable tour guide and driver. The trip took a long ride with bumpy roads towards to Arctic Circle not to mentioned the cloudy and rainy weather on that day. Fortunately we could see the Northern lights on the way back. Although it couldn't be seen clearly by naked eyes because of the weather, we could take a good pictures with our mobile phone's camera. Last but not least we got our the one and only Arctic Circle Certificate. Thank you Gavin and Alaska Wildlife Guide !

Overall an excellent trip if you want to see northern lights/collect pictures! My guide was Andre and he was very accommodating, providing good conversation and knowledge about the northern lights. Plus he had a great eye and caught the lights peaking, and we got to even see the green lights dancing with the naked eye! Overall an excellent tour!
