Travel along one of the world’s most isolated roads from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle on this memorable 12 to 14-hour tour through the Alaskan wilderness.

In the company of an experienced guide with a passion for Alaska, journey up the Dalton Highway, passing by the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, crossing the Yukon River, and reaching the edge of the Arctic Circle. On the drive back, watch for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

This tour is limited to 9 guests to ensure that you enjoy a small-group experience in one of our climate-controlled vans.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the Northern Lights sightings and we can't guarantee last minute bookings.

We do encourage each guest to rotate seats at least a few times on this tour.

  • Please dress appropriately. The temperatures can reach extreme conditions during the winter month and we recommend to dress in layers.
  • Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural occurrence and therefore cannot be guaranteed! (no refund possible)
  • The weather conditions are in no way predictable in our area and we will not offer a refund in case of too many clouds.
  • Exact schedule and itinerary of stops are subject to change based on daily conditions and Northern Lights activity on the day of your tour.
  • There is a possibility of cancellation due to dangerous weather and/or road conditions. If this occurs, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.
  • Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required. We are not able to provide gluten free or vegan options as there is limited availability of these items in Alaska.
  • Type of transportation: climate controlled van
  • The group size is limited to 8 people for each passenger van.
  • Customers are strongly encouraged to rotate seats at least a few times on the tour to give each person the opportunity of having a different view.

Kevin was my tour guide and he was amazing!!! He was so knowledgeable about Alaska. He was helpful, fun and motivated to show the entire group a meaningful once in a lifetime tour. The van was in perfect working order and best thing, a microphone so everyone could hear. He was a safe and courteous driver. I’ve use Viator many times all over the world, this was #1. And…The Northern Lights? Phenomenal.

I would give it a zero. The tour was canceled because they didn’t have 6 people sign up. They should commit to what they sell.

Nadia, The reason your tour was cancelled was due to an extreme weather warning from the National Weather Service. We do not have a 6 person minimum for any of our tours. We do apologize for the inconvenience to your travel plans, but it is not safe to send tours into the Arctic Circle when we have extreme weather, and we always put the safety of our guests first. To clear up any confusion, here is the text of the email that was sent to you on Friday morning when we received the weather warning: "Good morning, We regret to inform you that we have a serious weather warning for the higher elevations of the Dalton Highway. An unexpected cold air mass will drop temperatures to colder than -50 degrees Fahrenheit. With the recent melt and refreeze, and with these much colder temperatures, this leaves us at too high of a risk of a van being stranded in dangerously cold temperatures. As we take the safety of our guests very seriously, we will have no choice but to cancel this tour, which is never something we want to do. We do sincerely apologize for the disruption to your Alaskan travel plans, and we have already issued you a 100% refund. -Alaska Wildlife Guide"

Apparently this company rents unreliable vans. We were an hour and a half into our tour and the vans engine started smoking. It was a Saturday so not much is happening here in Fairbanks. We thought they would be able to get a replacement van so we could continue our 14 hour tour but no, he just got back in the van and said sorry guys bad news, we’re cancelling your trip cause another van broke down this morning and had to be rescued so I don’t think I can take this van up north. And then he told us the company will refund your money to you. So luckily with some quick thinking and cell service, I was able to contact Northern Alaska Tours and book an evening tour with them to Atleast see the Aurora and boy did we see it! I wish Alaska wildlife could be a bit more organized with how they deal with such issues. We pay a lot of money to get out here for this experience and it really was a bummer that they didn’t come through.
