It's a long trip up the Dalton highway, but one worth taking. The bus was very comfortable and the drive memorable. The road takes you to a place where you wouldn't want to drive in winter. The drive was scenic and interesting. We stopped along the way to look at the pipeline and then stopped at the Yukon river for lunch. Then were drove further north to the artic circle and then back to the Yukon river for dinner. On the way back to Fairbanks we stopped to watch the Northern Lights. The lights were visible, but not overwhelming due to there not being much solar activity. However, the view of the stars in the sky was incredible. I've never seen that many stars. Overall, this is a trip you should take. The group running the tour is very responsible and resposive to you having an enjoyable time.

Thank you Z1557EXdavids for joining us on your Arctic Circle Aurora Drive Adventure, I was just out admiring the stars the other night -- another great benefit of low light pollution is the vast night sky one can see. So glad you had a chance to enjoy the many stars and your time out in Alaska's Arctic. Thank you for joining us and thank you for your recommendation. Best wishes for a bright spring! Kathy

Before sharing any other moments about my trip to Fairbanks, I have to make this post happen first as my promise to my dear friend Claire. She's the best tour guide one could ever wish to have and she made everything so perfect. We saw the "dog eye" on our way in the morning, which is the sun surrounded by a rainbow circle. She could share all the history and stories along the way up to the arctic circle all the time and almost nonstop. She's so thoughtful and caring, every time a truck up to Prudhoe Bay met us on the road, Claire would give them the priority and explained to us that the truck drivers got paid by milage so we could help them a little bit by let them go first. She helped everyone with the photos and if you tried that in Alaska, you know how soon it could make your hands frozen. She prepared those lei and hula dance skirt so "you could have some Hawaiian feelings in Alaska when all your friends are in Hawaii." She threw me a surprise birthday party with pie which was the best one I ever had. I left the city during the new year season and my birthday time was because mostly I couldn't find anyone to celebrate with and I don't wanna disturb other's new year party. However, I got the best birthday memories on my trip with Claire and I'll remember it forever. She made our trip to the Aurora watching cabin before midnight on purpose so we could count down to the new year under these beautiful Aurora. To me she's not just a tour guide, she's a perfect friend with a beautiful soul, and I gave her my heart for the secret dream we both have which she might make it sooner than me. I'll leave another review on TripAdvisor soon to show her profession, and it's a real honor and blessing to meet her in Fairbanks. All the best to you my dear Claire, we'll definitely meet again. Happy new year~❤️ ========= I just copied the words I wrote for Claire and a bit extra tips for anyone who might be interested in this trip. It's truly possible to see the Aurora but not guaranteed. Claire knew Alaska pretty well and you'll find it yourself if you join her up north. I promised my sis I'll leave a review here and I kept my words. Alaska was amazing, everyone I met there was so friendly. Enjoy the life as it's the last day of your life. With that idea in head, you'll love this amazing trip no matter what.

1st of Claire was our tour guide and she was absolutely amazing! She was a great communicator about logistics, animals, and culture of Alaska! She really made the 16+ hour trip! We went to get a picture with the sign (bucket list) and to see the northern lights! We JOKED that Claire should push the button to make the lights come on! (Just a joke people there is no button) Sadly the northern lights did not come out for us BUT it was still a great day and a great trip!!! The food at the Yukon River Camp was shockingly good (for the middle of nowhere) and I was very Thankful for warm flushing toilets! I debated on adding this to our trip and I’m so glad we did! Go and see and do! And I hope you get Claire! She’s wonderful!
