As resident of Austin, we went on this food tour as a lark. While downtown isn't one of our most frequent haunts, we thought we had a good enough bead on the area to know the best places. It turns out that we had an opportunity to learn.
One thing that Angela (our guide) did that I found helpful was that she very publicly introduced herself and invited individuals (and couples) to introduce themselves. For me, what this did was create the opportunity to ask 'the next question' while we walked from place to place or while we experienced the sweet or savory treats that each venue had to offer. I learned about places to eat in Chicago, the manufacturer of a great waterproof backpack (out of Germany) and affirmed BBQ preferences with a couple from my home town of Kansas City.
Angela took the time at each location to allow us to enjoy the place, related facts at each restaurant (and at various places between) and got us back to our finish point on schedule.
Even though we live here in Austin, we anticipate doing it again...and when we do, we'll ask for Angela.
