We've done Craig Cat tours in other vacation spots, but Backwater Adventures in Marco Island/Goodland is head and shoulders above the rest. We went in November of 2022, right after Thanksgiving weekend, and took the 2.5 hours tour option, and were lucky enough to have Tyler as our guide. He was pretty awesome! Engaging, super upbeat, really friendly, and enthusiastic. Took care of our initial instructions, safety waivers, and off we went. There were originally going to be 4 in our group, but one had to go home early for a slight emergency, so one of our group wound up riding with Tyler. Talk about a personal tour guide. We saw SO MANY dolphins, and stopped 4 or 5 times to just float and watch. He also had a lot of great information about the dolphins we saw, and the other wildlife and flora we saw along the way.
We made our way to Whitehorse Key, did a bit of walking/shelling, but the whole time Tyler was checking weather apps on his phone and speaking with his bosses, as we could see some really dark storm clouds rolling in. In the interest of safety we cut our visit to Whitehorse short, and started to make our back just a bit early. Having been a boater since a VERY young age, he totally made the right call, and we definitely appreciated his attentiveness and awareness of the weather.
We made our way back pretty quickly, but still did have a chance to stop once more to see some dolphins.
We are unanimous in our positive review for this, and one of our group announced that she would come back to Marco, just to do this tour again. I think that's pretty high praise, and I agree with her sentiment 100%
Cannot recommend this tour enough, and if you book, and are able, I would definitely ask for Tyler as your guide.
