I grew up in the Pacific NW and learned about the great Seattle fire throughout my years in junior high and high school. I'd also gone on an underground tour probably 3 or 4 times before. It wasn't until I took this tour with my guide, Jim Gall, that it all finally made sense. For example, I recalled stories about locals having to use ladders as the town was being rebuilt after the fire, but why or how that developed was never clear. Jim did a great job of laying out Seattle's development from the native tribes through the fire and into the 20th century, filling in the gaps in my own knowledge and artfully laying out a narrative that made sense. And Jim is as entertaining as he is knowledgeable. If you're interested in some nerdy fun, I cannot recommend Jim Gall highly enough.
