My wife & have been to Manhattan quite a few times, but we had never made it to Brooklyn. We initially considered a 2 hour walking tour but then discovered this (longer & more expensive) option, and we were both glad we did. Traveling by bus, we were able to see & find out a little about several neighborhoods & sample mostly small bites of different ethnic foods. Our guide, Laurie, was knowledgeable & handled questions well. As an added bonus, Laurie has insights into most of the theater underway & made some useful suggestions. The several food stops amounted to a nice lunch spread over a few hours, & we enjoyed each stop. This format also gave us the opportunity to visit with almost all of the other participants. At end of tour you have the option of riding back to the meeting place in the West Village or leaving the bus at the Brooklyn Bridge & walking across. We chose to walk & really enjoyed the views & the experience. I recommend that option if the weather is O K or better. It was great on the day of our tour. One caution about ordering tickets: we chose to book this tour through a 3rd party, TripAdvisor, on the day before our travel to NY from the West Coast. Instead of getting an outright confirmation, we were told we had to contact the tour operator or we might be canceled & lose our payment. Tour operator, a small company, was hard to reach on the weekend, & I almost decided to cancel to avoid the risk. Everything worked out, but it was a little stressful the day before travel. So I recommend either booking directly (which I would do without hesitation now that I know the company) or booking several days ahead, to allow plenty of time for reservation confirmation.

We had a very knowledgeable guide, nice variety of foods, just the right length tour. The driver made it easy to access all sites.

WARNING: This food tour will ruin all other food tours for you. It's not the usual, walk around a small neighborhood and sample some local cuisine. It's a 5 hour bus tour around a borough of 3.1 million people. Pizza, Meatballs, Falafel, a full polish meal, cannoli, and decadent chocholates. It's a tour of Brooklyn as much as it is a food tour. An amazing way to see highlights of the an entire borough on New York City. It seems like a small operation, but there is so much effort and care put into it. I can only hope you get to have Rick as your tour guide. A New York transplant, but someone who has obviously fallen in love with the city. This tour inspired my wife and I to plan another trip to just Brooklyn next year.
